To be eligible, nominees must be from the Golden Age of Piracy, while all modern-day nominees must have at least 10 years of combined and proven experience in the Pirate Community. Nominees cannot be a member of the Review Committee or Selection Committee in the same year. Nominators cannot be a member of the Selection Committee in the same year. Nominees cannot be a current International Pirate Hall of Fame employee or employed by the International Pirate Hall of Fame within the last 12 months.
The International Pirate Hall of Fame seeks diverse candidates who represent the global Pirate Community, contributing to the greater good, and whose stories and achievements inspire future generations.
Nominations for the International Pirate Hall of Fame come from various means. Most come from the Pirate Community, while others come from various sources such as festival promoters, publishers, chambers of commerce, and the community at large. The nomination process is designed to engage diverse stakeholders from around the world, and all nominations are reviewed and researched for accuracy. Nominations for any calendar year will officially open to the public on July 1st, and will close on September 19th (International Talk Like a Pirate Day). No entries will be accepted after 12:00AM Eastern Time on September 19th. Announcement of the International Pirate Hall of Fame inductees is expected by January 1st of the following calendar year.
A nominator should submit only one application per nominee. Multiple applications by a nominator(s) for the same nominee will not improve the nominee’s chances of being selected. A nominator may nominate as many unique nominees as desired, with a focus on quality of the content of each application.
To submit your nomination entry to the International Pirate Hall of Fame, complete the application available at https://piratehalloffame.org/???. Two types of nominations are permitted: self-nomination and nomination of someone else (third party). The application format includes personal information, links to social networks, and essay and fillable fields. In your application, it is important to emphasize the nominee’s work and contributions relative to the mission of the International Pirate Hall of Fame. If you nominate a third party, please consult/communicate with the nominee to ensure that he or she is aware of your intention to nominate them, and that the nominee understands the official nomination rules, and grants their permission to share their personal information. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of data exported the country in which you reside.
Submissions must comply with the “Submission Guidelines and Content Restrictions” defined below. The International Pirate Hall of Fame reserves the right to cancel or modify this award in the event an insufficient number of entries are received that meet the minimum criteria.
Content Restrictions
Nominations may be cut, edited, reformatted, rearranged, combined with other materials and/or otherwise modified, in the International Pirate Hall of Fame’s sole and absolute discretion. Participation in the International Pirate Hall of Fame and/or acceptance of recognition constitutes each nominee’s permission for the International Pirate Hall of Fame to use their name, general address (country, city, state), likeness, photograph, picture, portrait, voice, biographical information, or nomination for advertising and promotional purposes without notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Any attempted form of entry other than as described is prohibited; no automatic, programmed, robotic or similar means of entry are permitted. The International Pirate Hall of Fame, its affiliates, partners and promotion, and advertising agencies are not responsible for technical, hardware, software, telephone, or other communications malfunctions, errors, or failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; website, Internet, or ISP availability; unauthorized human intervention; traffic congestion; incomplete or inaccurate capture of entry information (regardless of cause); or failed, incomplete, garbled, jumbled, or delayed computer transmissions that may limit one’s ability to enter the International Pirate Hall of Fame, including any injury or damage to any participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participating in the International Pirate Hall of Fame nomination process.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend, or suspend the Global Business Hall of Fame should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Global Business Hall of Fame. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Global Business Hall of Fame or website. Sponsor may prohibit a nominee from participating in the Global Business Hall of Fame in its sole discretion, if it determines that said nominee is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Global Business Hall of Fame by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, delay, hinder, threaten, or harass any other nominees or Sponsor representatives.
